Mistral Kitchen opens...Tom Douglas restaurant possibly in the works

Mistral Kitchen has opened in West 8th. The restaurant, designed by award-winning architect Tom Kundig, features four kitchens, a bar, and four distinct dining areas. Try it out for lunch, dinner, or brunch on the weekends.

TechFlash has broken the story that well-known restaurateur Tom Douglas is in talks to open a restaurant in the Terry Ave Building on the Amazon.com campus. Nothing is final and the opening would be more than year out, but it's still pretty dang exciting.

Kudos to Mistral Kitchen - haven't been yet, but glad to see more life coming to the area! Also VERY excited about the potential for another restaurant in SLU - fingers crossed the Douglas rumors become reality. That would hopefully get that area moving again with some more street-level activity for us pedestrians in the neighborhood.

Tom Douglas Rumor
...There's an old rumor that Tom is opening a new restaurant in the vicinity of Dahlia, Serious Pie, etc - perhaps in the Escala building? Rumor was that it would have a focus on gourmet burgers. I wonder if he's exploring locations more broadly for the same concept? Seems like Vulcan might be hot to cut a deal to spur a little more retail activity in the 'hood.

Douglas Rumor
I heard the rumor about the new Tom Douglas place like 9 months ago... but this is the first time I've seen anything since. I'll go back to my original source and see if there is any new info. I live at Harrison and Yale and work at Harrison and Dexter... a Tom Douglas restaurant smack in the middle would be perfection!!
